CEFS

At this time there is no money available for LIHEAP.

Free lunches for children through high school age.

Northside Christian Church in cooperation with CEFS is providing free lunches this summer to all children through high school age.  There will be free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a fruit drink and snacks.  This will be on Tuesday and Thursdays from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Vandalia Legion Hall. This will start on June 3, 2008.

RECIPE

Baked Pork Chops and Apples

Ingredients:
2 medium cooking apples, peeled, quartered
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
4 pork chops

Instructions:
1.  Cut the apples into quarters. Peel if desired.
2.  Remove the core
3.  Slice each apples quarter into 3 or 4 pieces
4.  Spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray
5.  Place apples in dish
6.  Combine brown sugar and cinnamon
7.  Combine brown sugar mixture with the apples
8.  Trim pork chops of any excess fat
9.  Heat a medium-size skillet and add the pork chops
10. Cook over medium heat until light brown on both sides
11. Place the pork chops in a single layer on the apples and cover with a lid or with foil
12. Bake in pre-heated oven at 350° about 45 minutes or until pork is done in the center (160°)
