The Division of Environmental Health conducts plan reviews, permitting and routinely inspects Food Service Establishments to ensure compliance with the Illinois Food Service Sanitation Code and the Fayette County Food Sanitation Ordinance. Before a Food Service Establishment can begin operations, they must obtain a Fayette County Food Service Establishment Operating Permit and pass a pre-opening inspection. Food Safety Education
Aside from establishment inspections, we strive to educate food service managers and operators on proper food safety practices and HACCP principles. It is our belief increased education is the greatest defense against food-borne illnesses. We offer a Food Safety Quick Course to anyone interested. If you have a grouip of two or more and would like to register for the course, submit a Food Safety Quick Course Registration Form. The Division of Environmental Health also responds to complaints of improper food handling and suspected Food-Borne Illness.
