Fayette Asthma Coalition Team

 
 
 

Fayette Asthma Coalition Team is a Coalition of Respiratory Therapists, Health Care Professionals, Pharmacists, and interested Community Members.

Fayette County Health Department is the grant holder for a Coalition grant to address the needs of asthma in the county. The Fayette Asthma Coaltion Team was formed in 1994. Since that time, the coaltion has sponsored educational seminars for schools, healthcare providers and individuals. The coalition has distributed educational materials at various healthfairs on asthma action plans, medications and usage.

In 2006, The Fayette Asthma Coalition developed a newsletter to distribute information about the latest information and treatment guidelines pertaining to asthma.

Today, the Fayette Asthma Coalition Team meets twice yearly. If you are interested in joining Fayette Asthma Coalition Team you may call 618-283-1044 for more information.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for and educating the public about asthma and allergies. The Allergy and Asthma Network/Mothers of Asthmatics, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting allergy and asthma patients and their families. AAN/MA provides reliable and practical information, support, and resources to individuals with allergies and asthma that will make it easier to manage their conditions. Membership is $25 a year and includes a monthly newsletter and discounts on allergy/asthma products and resources.

The 800 phone number connects you directly with your local American Lung Association (ALA office). Local ALA chapters (phone number in you local telephone directory) feature "Open Airways for Schools," a comprehensive elementary school-based asthma program for children with asthma. One program can serve an entire school and can be used repeatedly. (To order the program, contact your local ALA or call 1-800-292-5542). Also available are educational materials, support groups, speakers, asthma camps and community-based programs for children with asthma, their families, school personnel and health care professionals.
